Crowns, Bridges & Veneers

Veneers and crowns provide both cosmetic and functional use. They not only help patients improve the appearance of the teeth and smile, they are also an important tool in people's ongoing dental health.

Artificial crowns are often the best way to save a tooth and strengthen it. It fits over the prepared existing tooth and replaces the natural crown that is chipped, broken or weakened due to trauma, tooth decay, large old fillings or age-related wear and tear. The crown covers the entire tooth and requires the removal of a portion of the tooth.

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth-coloured porcelain shells carefully crafted to bond to and cover the front of unsightly teeth. They are a more conservative treatment than a crown and can often be used as an alternative if the underlying tooth is strong and healthy. There is also some enamel removal required to apply the veneer, but this is considerably less than for a crown.

Crowns and veneers are an ideal solution for damaged teeth. They are used for repairs including covering extensive tooth decay damage, repairing fractured teeth and to protect teeth after a root canal. Crowns and veneers will not only help towards improving the aesthetic nature of your smile, but they will also allow you to function properly with your teeth again without the pain and discomfort that you once felt.

A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth.  It consisits of an artficial tooth attached to the adjacent natural teeth.  If a tooth is lost or is too badly decayed to save with a crown, a bridge may be the treatment of choice.
